SIEGE OF EAGLE GATES: HIGH ELVES LAST STAND – Total War: Warhammer 2 Gameplay – Hey guys! Welcome back to another Warhammer siege battle. 3 Lizardmen armies. Nov 03,  · Build Siege Equipment and fight the battle the way it was intended to be fought. This can take a lot of time and greatly reduces the pace of gameplay. It can take up to two turns to build a pair of siege towers, and you might need at least 6 to properly siege. Reinforcing armies cannot help you speed up the building process. A guide to how Siege’s go down in Total War: Warhammer! Obvs! The siege issue is more complicated then people think. I can definitely understand why sieges are the way they are in warhammer. The biggest issue CA has to deal with is making sieges fun but also short. In general most people in total war games auto resolve sieges as often as they can because they take a long time and require a lot more set up. So sieges in WH actually combine the worst of two worlds: 2. On the other hand settlement fortifications are Even a settlement with defenses jacked up to T5 cannot actually stop either the ram or the towers from reaching the walls since they do so little damage and towers have way too much health and roll way too fast as well.

Lower tiered defenses don’t even cause all that much damage to approaching units either, shielded or unshielded. I really like TWW sieges. They can absolutely be improved but in principle they’re on point. Given the nature of TWW armies a force multiplier of 1. You are right about siege towers though. They should be stoppable. Rams, eh, the player can stop those pretty easily as is. I remember lots of siege towers being destroyed in game 1.

Dunno if they have changed something in the second, I didn’t really get the chance to test. It takes a few turns to siege properly. Note that just sieging blocks recruitement, so it’s not a win proposition for the besieged.

Exploits are up to the players to use. You can draw skirmisher fire with a single character and other abuse in battle but you don’t have to. Same for sieges. It’s difficult to avoid abuse, then. On a related tangent, which faction would you guys say has the best siege defenders and which has the worst?

Likewise, what is the best defended city in the game? Problem with sieges is not that siege towers dont get destroyed. Dont hurt players that play sieges like it should be with towers and rams even more. Why spend several turns building them when they would get destroyed so easiely. Always had a single entity unit walk infront of a siege tower in WH1, problem solved by the way. Honestly most of the time you just shoot defenders from the wall high elves or artillery heavy factions like empire, dwarfs, soon VP or just rush walls without equipment.

Reason to build Siege Towers is to reach the walls safely. If you take that from them why even bother. Sieges are a bit boring yeah but because of different other reasons. What’s so different about them compared to Warhammer? Waste 4 turns to build towers? Ram is absolutely useless when you got monstrous infantry, and even if you don’t it’s so slow that i never take it.

The units behind it get torn to shreds. Discussions Activity Best Of Sign In. Welcome Please register for Total War Access to use the forums. Sign In Register. Categories November in General Discussion.

So sieges in WH actually combine the worst of two worlds: 1. They waste your time, in the lategame nearly every battle you fight is a siege of some kind and you have to wait for an eternity if you don’t really want to fight it due to becoming repetitive really fast since sieges simply offer less varied tactical approaches than field battles and a load of units are simply useless in them like most cavalry 2.

Lower tiered defenses don’t even cause all that much damage to approaching units either, shielded or unshielded So here’s my suggestion. Fortifications must be made much stronger but at the same time also less common. Defense towers even on the lowest tier should do great damage to attackers and siege equipment needs a health and speed reduction.

At the same time the fortitication line itself should have regional effects like slowing invading armies down and providing more troops. This is actually how they work in ToB. As a trade-off fortifications must be harder to build and maintain, by prolonging their construction time, upping their construction cost and having an upkeep fee.

This would achieve that you’d have to really commit to major sieges but also that wouldn’t have to constantly fight them. Tagged: Sieges fortifications. Selakah Registered Users Posts: November November edited November No they won’t.

Tested them extensively with HE and Skaven fortifications. On vanilla a tower will always successfully dock even with T5 defense towers, albeit barely, because the very limited firing arc doesn’t allow more than max two towers to shoot and even then a lot of shots miss to boot.

Hyped for TWW3. You can make Cathay the best race in TWW history. I bolieve in you! Warhammer fanart gallery. Nyxilis Registered Users Posts: 4, I don’t know what games people have been playing where towers are defeated by fortifications.

Certain ones can actually hurt infantry I will say. When fighting the TK last I certainly felt the heat on some of my weaker units but not all. But I have never in any battle in game 2 ever had a tower destroyed, nor have I ever destroyed a tower with fortifications.

And game 1 only in the earlier days before they made some changes because I stopped every losing or destroying them in its later era as well. And difficulty hasn’t’ seemed to matter on this. I am not very entertained though by current sieges, they are more often the same compared to land battles. But rarely do I find fortifications making any difference compared to the compositions of the invading army.

Let alone they’re still atrociously glitchy on firing upon, casting spells around or about the walls, and other things. PappyTron Registered Users Posts: Those hungry bastards ate Elf soup every day. Since any siege can be won by sitting enough turns, just one turn of attrition slices the defending force by half. If you attack before that you take the risk, and siege tower diminish it. Since each tower takes turns to complete it’s not a bad tradeoff. Don’t forget this mechanism is supposed to help the player too. Without those turns, you’d lose cities left and right every time a rogue army would be out of range of your main stacks. In their current state, towers and climbing take a large toll on the attacker if he doesn’t cheese.

If you make them even stronger that will only encourage just starving cities or cheesing more often. I don’t see how you could get less siege assauts, if not by removing walls on minor settlements. And if that’s the case, expect a lot of cities to be sacked every. What wold be the point of that equipment if taking many turns yielded nothing? The only viable strategy would be to amass more stacks everytime. I’m afraid for a more freeflowing late game you’d either want the AI to not fortify their minor cities or rarely or the AI to attack in the open when it feels weaker.

Maybe there is sweet spot somewhere but it’s not trivial.
