Nov 04,  · If you bought the external enclosure separately and installed a new hard drive in it, the new hard drive has no data on it. You must do as OtheHill has said. The USB port you plug the external hard drive into must be able to supply the full max USB spec ma, and even then it won’t be recognized in all USB ports. Apr 22,  · 4 posts. Posted April 20, I formatted my original xbox hd on my computer. Now the xbox doesn’t recognize it. Only by USB and with 32GB. I managed to make it all appear for Party Buffalo. I just don’t know how I put it back on the HD so that it can work normally. Quote. Buffalo NAS external drives & Windows 10 will not connect – Microsoft Community

It sits on my network with a static IP address. When I map to the drive, I can access it for a while before it becomes unavailable with the following error message:. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The odd thing is it only looses my mapped share but the built in share from buffalo “info” continues to function perfectly well!

This is a big issue for me as its my primary backup target for 3 servers on my network and the agent software starts to send files to the nas and then BOOM its off the network so the backups fail. The only way i can get the share back up and running is to run the Buffalo raid scanning tool, once its finished its scan the share pops back up again for a few hours at most. I use the rackmounts, so I am not sure if the box has the same set up.

On the back there is a switch that takes it from auto power mode to manual. In auto, it will go to sleep when not in use for x amount of time. In manual it stays on at all times. The auto mode in my instance was never very reliable.

I would be transferring data and it would do similar things. As soon as I made it manual I never had an issue. I know your set up should work as I have two rackmounts and they sync up to each other over night.

In addition, I have a few desktops that use the mapped share as a back up at night as well. Never had any issues. Its a rack mount, i can always ping the IP and i can always browse to the device but when i chose to browse into my specific shared drive it fails. I’ve just configured active backup port trunking to see if it make any improvement – something i needed to do anyway for resilience but i cant see it helping Depends how you are accessing the NAS.

The info share I believe uses built in authentication which will not be affected. If you are serving the shares from a Windows server and the NAS is purely serving the volumes up to the Windows server then there would be no impact. Hope the new firmware will solve the issue; I see that Microsoft has an article on ” Mapped Drive Connection to Network Share May be Lost” that you may find useful as well.

I’m not a big fan of that solution. You would think that there would be a different route available. Seems like they are grasping at straws. And assuming that fixes the issue – what’s to say it won’t happen again whatever it was that happened to cause this?

Especially taking them out of the NAS to format. Why can’t you use the NAS to format them, if needed? To continue this discussion, please ask a new question. The only way i can get the share back up and running is to run the Buffalo raid scanning tool, once its finished its scan the share pops back up again for a few hours at most could this be a raid issues, or maybe a network switch problem?

Permissions and the DC not allowing the authentication due to the time skew. Hope that makes sense. Not using any AD integration at all purely created the volumes and shares on the NAS and use them as backup targets by Novabackup.

In which case the time shouldn’t be a problem. Worth the check though. DragonsRule This person is a verified professional. The RAID scanning tool should only fix things if there’s some kind of drive issue. A reboot of the device doesn’t fix the issue? I agree with SAM – call Buffalo. Formatting shouldn’t be needed at all. Just remove existing partitions and anything looking at it should see nothing but free space, to be used as needed.

But if you don’t do what they told you to do they can just blame you if it fails. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting. Read these next
