Subject: Warhammer 40k minecraft mod! A dakka dakka group project. While walking i thought about a little idea, dakka dakka is filled with smart, techy minds, you being one.
AND theres no good, deep minecraft 40k mod out there at the moment. North of your position. I’ll playtest. Subject: Re:Warhammer 40k minecraft mod! Anyone able to code in java? While Im no coding genius, I dont mind testing any weirdo contraptions you lot come up with. So Id like to put myself down as Playtester, even if the stuff isnt yet complete and you ‘just want to see what it does right now’.
People do realise, I can’t code. I’m looking for a head coder and a few other guys. Playtesters will be needed once we have a form of playable mod. If you know any body that can help call in a favour from them please. Were there be dragons I think your best bet to get a coder on board would be to create the pseudo code and maybe even some flowcharts as to how you want everything to work in game. This means you can show them exactly what you want them to do and it will give them a better idea as to what they are letting themselves in for.

Write it down on paper, the coder will be able to translate it. Pseudocode derived from pseudo and code is a description of a computer programming algorithm that uses the structural conventions of programming languages, but omits detailed subroutines or language-specific syntax.
This lets us specify quite a bit of the program before we have worked out all aspects of it. On larger programs, it is valuable to begin with pseudo-code and refine it in stages until it is all executable. This way you can revise and improve the design at a high level without writing any executable code, yet remain close to a form which can be made executable. Software Tools, Kernighan, Plauger.
I don’t think I’ll be able to do that, could someone volunteer to write the pseudo code, we can talk using PMs about the specifics. On Nimbosa, cramming as many guardsmen into troop carriers as possible. I can program a bit in java, I could make textures if need be Automatically Appended Next Post: when I say a bit I mean I have a ridiculously basic understanding in java, but I could learn how to program with minecraft.
Can we have devastator weaponry? Wow, were gaining quite a team on this one! So heres the list so far Pseudo coders-ihatenids -psychadelicmime Textures-psychadelicmime Playtesters-matapata98 -noobbomb So far this seems like it’s getting off to a good start!
And yes, there bs devastator weapons among tens of STCs. So the op doesn’t have any coding skills, doesn’t know how make a mod and is basically just wishlisting features? I don’t mean t sound harsh but isn’t this a bit of a strech to ask from dakka community when the only relevent thing is that it has 40k skins? Why not go for something simple?
Like village defence game where you defend villagers from monsters. It would be easier to make most features are in the game and you would have something which you can build upon. Every time I hear “in my opinion” or “just my opinion” makes me want to strangle a puppy.
People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can’t critisize and that is bs. If you can’t defend or won’t defend your opinion then that “opinion” is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. Elephant Graveyard. Dakka Bingo! Im pretty sure I have a gun than can reach you That’s just Europe.
Equip, Reload. Do violence. Watch for Gerry. Yeah, I second that actually. I was working with an epic 40K mod for the game World in Conflict, using terrain deformation and making the maps a lot larger.
A mod is not something that you just do on a whim. My mod went together during the course of 5 months before we even got anywhere near an alpha, with 3 different units for each side. Our goal was something like 30 units, plus titans. The project was shelved as a result of the immense problems with the coding. I still have the mod, and play it a little from time to time. This might sound unbeleivable “Please Punch Me in the Face”, but we could just come together and complete Death’s mod?
A mod’s gonna take a long time, but I’m willing to put effort into it. I tried programming an iphone app and that took 6 months, so I know how hard it can be. Swindon, Wiltshire, UK. Corpsesarefun wrote: Perhaps start with reskins and custom maps.
Making new textures for existing mobs. Your orks in the finished mod could simply be vanilla zombies with a new skin and you could use those in conjunction with a custom map such as the titan to get a lot of the feel of 40k with far less work than a full mod. Hell you could just retexture bows to be bolters and the various types of swords to be different weapons.

Run it with forge, and also, more races. Optio Werewolf of Angmar Were there be dragons Sorry but my English isn’t that good, could someone explain? Software Tools, Kernighan, Plauger Whatever you created would only need to be basic, merely how each item interacts with each other and what it does and what elements from other game mechanics it needs to draw upon.
The coder himself would probably draw up his own final copy of the code to work from but this would give them a basis as to where to start. If your still not sure there is tons of stuff on pseudo code on google. I dont mind trying to Ogryn Bone ‘Ead! Posts like are usually Soladrin Decrepit Dakkanaut. Because words. I do agree with Illuknisaa though.
The OP just seems to be wishlisting stuff and adding nothing to the project. Also, not to piss on your dreams but have you got any idea how much time and effort is involved with making a proper mod? I’ve only done a tiny bit of coding for a single game in the past, it was torture. And that was nothing but scripting a few NPC ‘s and quests. Add in texture packs, item models, item skins, item mechanics etc.
A mod is not something you make on a whim. Perhaps start with reskins and custom maps.
