I know a lot of people are having issues with the tactical camera. I’m wondering some basic stuff. Like how do you get people to actually “hold position”? Quite frankly I have many questions and can’t really find a definitive source for answers.

Even the guides offer little help User Info: Brajzah. Accepted Answer. I personally was let down with the tactical camera, and thus haven’t used it extensively. However if you have further questions I will try to answer them. For your current question though. This is actually in the since I don’t know an actual name for it quick menu. Press L1 to bring up a radial menu and select “Hold Position” to make everyone including yourself hold position. Moving a party member that is ordered to hold position, will result in them cancelling that order, so make sure they’re where you want them to be when you issue it.

Or just issue it again, I guess lol. Hope that helps man. User Info: Drone Other Answers. L1 opens up a menu where you have your potions and also will show up some few commands that you can order to your party without getting into the tactical camera like holding position, attack, etc.

If you are in combat you can use that function as well but also the tactical camera which I do not use that much, except, when I faced dragons just to order my entire party to move underneath the dragon.

That’s it. I find the tactical camera not that useful if you are playing on normal. When I faced my first dragon, I order my two mages to position away from the dragon and they were killed almost immediately. From that point on, I decided to move everybody underneath the dragon and it did work much better. That is the only function that I use. User Info: orcama It’s pretty easy to control the tactical menu, most people who have a problem with it either refuse to listen to the in game tutorials explaining stuff then whine that they didn’t know how to do that or worse, complain about something that is easily solved by something they skimmed or refused to learn or they like me think it’s remarkably tedious to break it out EVERY time.

I miss the more robust habits options not because I hate the tactical menu or want things “easier”, I miss them because I don’t want to and shouldn’t have to break out the tactical menu for the 4 bandits I ran into so I don’t accidentally take stupid damage and have to use a potion early. Obviously on NM hardest difficulty that is pointless as an argument since no computer AI will ever be able to work as well as a human with all the time in the world to think who has a good understanding of how battles in the game play out.

I am just talking about my normal difficulty run when I am grinding. Nit picks aside there is nothing wrong with the tactical menus controls you just can’t rush through it and not pay attention. I just learned yesterday you can also order someone to hold position by moving them ANYWHERE and clicking the same spot again without moving the cursor and they will move to that location and hold there until you tell them to do otherwise.

Like I said there is nothing I can think of that I would want to do that they tactical menu doesn’t allow you to do disregarding things that are impossible in the game engine or obviously broken User Info: neohampster.
